NRZ- Director of Technology

Fortress seeks to hire a Director of Technology to oversee NRZ’s investment portfolio technology capabilities and internal infrastructure. NRZ is currently transitioning much of its proprietary internal risk analytics to a third-party vendor. It will be the manager’s task to guide this transition and then reorient the existing group - consisting of 8+ IT professionals - towards data pipeline management, reporting, and analytics directly supporting the investment team and portfolio companies which NRZ owns. The acquisition of new portfolio companies, and management of information flow from acquired companies to the NRZ, will be a particular focus of the group. This manager will have responsibility for infrastructure, data management, reporting and day- to-day operations and will also be responsible for the security of the firm’s considerable information assets. The firm has been moving away from internal to cloud-based data management and data security continues to be paramount, as much of this data contains information on underlying consumers.

The manager will initially evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the existing platform and team and work with stakeholders to lay out both tactical and strategic plans for improvement. This individual must bring an in-depth understanding of current and emerging technologies across investment portfolio management, technology infrastructure, application development, data and cybersecurity.  The role will be based in New York City. As a key leadership position, this role contributes to the ongoing continuous improvements of processes, practices, and capabilities focused on technology.

Responsibilities Include:

·         Provides thought-leadership in development of software design, data pipelines, security policies, application development, and quality standards.

·         Defines and executes software design, development, and quality standards controls

·         Develop a high performing technology organization maintaining high standards of delivery.

·         Controls and improves operations by conducting analysis and recommending changes in process, policies and procedures.

·         Provides thought-leadership in development of code management, build, and deployment standards, practices, and controls.

·         Drives the adoption of Agile processes and strategies to develop and innovate faster.

·         Contributes to the execution of Problem Management by assigning and controlling action plans.

·         Establish application support incident processes including post-incident problem management.

·         Coordinates engagement of software engineering teams in production support within their application domain

·         Applies analytical skills to understand system requirements

·         Develops solution options for systems requirements

·         Managing teams of approximately 8-15 resources with 2-3 direct reports.

·         Assesses complex technical challenges and defines the solutions

·         Defines practices, processes and outputs for solution architecture and design

·         Applies expert knowledge of application architecture principles and standards

·         Drives engineering and architectural best practices throughout organization

·         Contributes to development of Enterprise Architectural vision

·         Exposure to Microservice and Azure cloud architecture.

·         Applies expert knowledge of applicable system development tools and hosting platforms

·         Applies expertise in system design: scalability, reliability, extensibility, usability

·         Oversees and provides technical direction to multiple engineering teams

·         Facilitates allocation and coordination of team resources

·         Recruit and retain talented engineers

·         Develops, monitors, and controls resource allocation plans.

·         Partners with Product Management to develop technology and product roadmaps

Skills Required:

·         Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

·         10+ years of profession experience, including exposure to OOPS, Design Patterns, REST API, JSON/XML, VB.Net/C#, ASP.Net, Angular/React, MVC, (Web Development), .Net, Entity Framework, SQL Server 2012 and above, jQuery, JavaScript, Windows Services, RabbitMQ, VisualCron and Control-M.

·         Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related degree.
