About the Position
Fortress is seeking an Analyst to join its Asset-Based Credit Group within the Credit Funds business. The Asset-Based Credit Group focuses on a broad mandate of investment opportunities across the capital structure in the specialty finance sector including consumer finance, commercial finance and other contractual cash flowing receivable assets. The team generally concentrates on lending against and acquiring assets originated by companies across these sectors. The investment model emphasizes deep industry and asset class specific research along with substantial data analysis as a backdrop to formulating opinions on attractive transactions and deal structures.
The Analyst will join our New York office (in-person) and will be involved in all aspects of the investment process including research, financial modeling, legal documentation, due diligence and portfolio management.
Responsibilities
- Perform research relevant to the specialty finance market, associated risks and specific transactional opportunity set
- Enhance database efficiency and data analysis capabilities
- Manage ad-hoc projects focused on market research and data analysis
- Work with large data sets to assist with the development of quantitative asset-based financial models
- Perform comparative industry and asset performance analysis to assist with investment selection and structuring
- Conduct analysis and due diligence on investment opportunities with specialty finance companies and portfolios of cash flowing assets
- Assist with the preparation of term sheets and investment committee memos
Qualifications
- An analytical mindset with a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, computer science or a related field.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Solid understanding of bond math and cashflow modelling fundamentals
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Outstanding work ethic, ability and desire to work in a collegial, demanding and dynamic fast paced environment
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Database and programming skills are a plus
