Fortress is seeking an experienced and talented Senior Desktop Engineer to play an integral role in the transformation of end-user computing. The position will be instrumental in determining the future direction and implementation at Fortress and will report directly to the VP of Desktop Engineering.

The Senior Desktop Engineer will:
Formulate, project manage and execute various enterprise wide infrastructure projects to meet business needs
Use his/her knowledge and experience to contribute to the end user experience, and the overall technology strategy to meet the firm’s goals 
Utilize their knowledge to deliver and manage a standardized operating environment  consisting of over 1500 desktops globally in a 24x7 environment
Utilize their knowledge and experience to recommend and evaluate solutions in establishing a mobile desktop experience
Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of desktop standards, operating environment and lifecycle through advanced knowledge and expertise with Windows technology (registry, profiles, services, components, etc.) and Active Directory (Group Policy, DFS, replication etc)
Create, modify and streamline application packaging and distribution (using tools such as InstallShield, Wise and ORCA) and utilize application virtualization programs (VMWare ThinApp,  Microsoft App-V and similar technologies) to enhance desktop delivery
Evaluate current systems and recommend improvements from a technology and security standpoint; work on patch management and security, endpoint protection and data loss prevention (SEP, SCEP, EMET, Lumension)
Research new methods for enhancing performance, reliability, optimization tuning and overall user experience

The ideal candidate will have the following technical skills:
At least 8 years of experience working as an Engineer in a high-intensity environment, financial services experience is preferred
A college degree or equivalent certifications/work experience
Strong scripting and development knowledge (Powershell, VBScript, Batch, .NET, Visual Studio)
Experience with system management tools (SCCM, Altiris)
Knowledge of Active Directory including Group policies, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP.
Reasonable knowledge of VDI technologies and remote computing solutions.
Knowledge of Citrix XenApp
Knowledge of basic application dependencies

Proven experience organizing and prioritizing workflows to meet established timeframes
Desire and ability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills
Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet business requirements
Ability to work independently or within a team environment and collaborate effectively
