The Real Estate business at Fortress is focused on investing in distressed real estate loan acquisitions, special situation equity investments and recapitalizations, opportunistic lending, REIT debt and commercial real estate structured products. The teams have long standing distressed investing and asset management experience with a fully tested and integrated origination, acquisition, underwriting, asset and risk management infrastructure.

Fortress’ London office has an opening for a Real Estate Associate.  The associate will join an established team of twelve investment professionals with a highly successful track record in opportunistic real estate investments across Western Europe.  Due to the collaborative nature of the European team, flat hierarchy, and broad investment mandate, this position offers significant growth and advancement opportunities. 

The Real Estate Associate will:
Evaluate and execute real estate investments within Fortress’s Real Estate Fund business, with a particular focus on turn-around and distressed acquisitions in Western Europe
Contribute to the generation of new investment strategies and ideas
Create financial models, conduct market research, and interact with brokers, sellers, and advisors to evaluate acquisitions
Prepare investment memoranda to summarize findings for senior management and Fortress’s investment committee
Manage third-party due diligence processes, overseeing technical, valuation, and legal advisors
Work with the investment and legal team to determine and implement the appropriate legal structure for acquisitions
Manage the execution of third-party debt financings in conjunction with acquisitions; negotiate term sheets and facility agreements; facilitate lender due diligence
Participate actively in regular meetings with Fortress’s senior management team and investment committee to discuss acquisition opportunities

The ideal candidate will have:
Three to seven years of experience working in real estate finance, investment banking, or law
An undergraduate degree with grades demonstrating strong academic performance
Strong and concise quantitative, written and oral communication skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Proficiency in at least one European language in addition to English
Experience in process management and negotiations
The ability to work independently in a demanding environment
A high level of resilience and the ability to travel frequently
Strong stakeholder management skills
Good commercial awareness with broad market knowledge
The ability to provide resourceful solutions with strong analytical skills, creativity and logical thinking
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated a strong interest in real estate investing
